 /

The Department of Digital Arts and Animation (DAA) is committed to becoming a leading institution in delivering high-quality, industry-standard programmes in animation and filmmaking, addressing Namibia’s creative workforce gap.

Through the Animation Skills Accelerator Programme (ASAP), the DAA will graduate its first cohort of globally competitive professionals by October 2025. The department’s mission includes offering specialised short courses designed to equip Namibian nationals and residents with skills in 2D/3D animation, visual effects, gaming, creative writing for children's TV, and filmmaking. These programmes will empower participants to become active contributors and service providers in the cultural and creative industries.

In its inaugural year, the DAA will collaborate with leading industry experts and international partners from Europe, Africa, and the United States. These partnerships will establish a world-class training hub in Namibia, positioning the Namibia University of Science and Technology as a key player in advancing the region’s creative and digital economy.
