Admission Requirements
- Candidates must be Namibian citizens or residents.
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 45.
- Basic computer literacy is required.
- Prior experience in digital arts, animation, film, or TV is not a requirement.
- Women, previously disadvantaged individuals, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Course Aims/Purpose
This course is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of 2D animation using Toon Boom Harmony and other integrated software. No prior knowledge is required, making it accessible to beginners who want to learn the basics of 2D animation.
Specific Learning Outcomes
On completing the course, participants should be able to:
- Create animations using Toon Boom Harmony
- Apply key animation principles across the animation pipeline and production process to create technically sound animation that activity convey story, character, and emotion.
- Utilise animation principles in character rigging
- Demonstrate an understanding of concepts such as character scenes.

Introduction to Toon Boom Harmony and Fundamentals
Understanding the interface, workspace, setup, and essential tools
Animating characters in Toon Boom Harmony
Creating basic animation in Toon Boom Harmony using brushes, colours, and textures for character and background creation.
Applying Key Animation Principles in the Production Process
Refining movement and timing
Building emotion and storytelling
Animating complex actions
Rigging and Animation Movement Principles
Character rigging basics
Creating bone structures (working with a simple character skeletal)
Applying animation principle in rigging (dialogue and syncing mouth shapes to sound)
Character Animation Scene Creation
Introduction to storyboarding application and production techniques
Using storyboards and animatics
Managing a specific shot and finishing touches to final scenes
