Guy Nockels
Guy Nockels is the visionary founder and driving force behind Namib Film. His journey in the film industry began in 1973 with the SABC's sound department before he relocated to London to work with the BBC's film unit. Upon returning to South Africa in the 1980s, Guy contributed extensively to the local film industry, working in the sound department before transitioning to directing and producing television productions.
With years of experience as a 1st Assistant Director (1st AD), Guy honed his expertise across various aspects of the industry, working in numerous countries across Europe and Africa. In Swakopmund, Namibia, he established Namib Film, supported by his credentials in Business & Financial Management as well as Budgeting & Scheduling.
Since its inception in 2000, Namib Film has earned an international reputation for excellence in film production services. Known for its high standards and extensive global client base, Namib Film has set the benchmark for the Namibian film industry. The company is distinguished as the only Namibian production house to have serviced a major Hollywood studio film from start to finish—20th Century Fox’s Flight of the Phoenix, directed by John Moore. Additionally, Namib Film has become the preferred partner for numerous high-profile Bollywood productions filmed in Namibia.
Guy is also actively involved in the establishment of Desert Dunes Film Studios (Namibia) Pty Ltd. in Swakopmund, further cementing his commitment to advancing the film industry in Namibia.
