The Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) is a leader in embracing technology changes and ensuring the students are trained on current trends for smooth integration into their job roles. The period of 2021 to 2025 presents both challenges and opportunities for growth, innovation and rethinking our processes. We believe it will be a season of integrating key trends in our curriculum, in response to global challenges in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to address National Development Goals (NDGs) and well United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Technology is the heart of digital transformation in all spheres of our lives, we believe education driven by robust current technology is the best enabling tool for teaching, learning, research, innovation, collaboration and community engagement.
FCI envisions to be the leading enabler of societal digital transformation. This will transform Namibia into a country where Information Systems, Information and Communications Technologies, responsible Journalism are universally and effectively used in public and private organisations, and within communities by the general populace. This will lead to the improvement of productivity, the success of commercial and other enterprises, and the advancement of quality of life, economic and social development of the population. Our vision will be achieved through educating innovative leaders and advancing computing and media knowledge through excellent education, research and community engagement and service to the benefit of society. Our Faculty has three (3) main pillars, school of Computing, School of Informatics, Journalism and Media Technology and the India Namibia Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (INCEIT)
